History Repeats Itself

Check out some of the 1930s architectural details that I'm falling in love with at The Historic House By The Water. Sure, they need some care and restoration, but that's all right.

So what is the creepy wall door? It reminds me of the haunted closet in The Sixth Sense.

I'm super jealous. I would love an older home with adorable architectural details.

I know, right, L?! My bestie is freaking me out with haunting stories (more on this later), so don't you start, too!

That said, I was actually trying to get a picture of the cool doorknob and keyhole. Thanks to crappy lighting though it does look pretty Ghostbusters worthy.

Anyway. On a side note, I'm typing this in 3 layers of clothes bc it's around 55 degrees here in North Florida. You Alaskans are like superheros.

Mmmmm... that's an original lighting fixture, isn't it? And, of course, I love the tile :) I totally agree that it's these little details (trim, doorknobs, tile, etc.) that make older homes so warm and give them such a depth of character. Well, more than that really - I think the knowledge that the house is old and has held lots of families is the biggest factor (loved the letter post, btw). You have a really lovely home. Had a wonderful time looking through your posts today.
