Lookie what came in the mail yesterday:
It's a tuxedo striped black and white bone hook from Anthropologie. Isn't there something sort of Tim Burton about it?
Let's see it next to the other pieces going into The Sexy, I mean, Master Bedroom:
These are a lot of the items that we're dealing with so far. There are a few things not pictured including a 1920s antique brass chandelier, some of my (undecided on) paintings or photographs as wall hangings, a gorgeous sort of mod vase from our wedding, silver candelabras, a 42" wall hung Samsung television, and an ornate antique gold mirror.
Here is what the room looked like when when the sellers lived here:
Sort of looks like a blueberry exploded, no?
Sure we have our work cut out for us, but it could be waaay worse. The dark wood floors and trim will stay. The ceiling fan is already gone (two points to whoever remembers that debaucle).
Our plan is to scrape the textured ceiling and paint the walls Eddie Bauer Vintage Gray. We haven't yet decided for certain the color of the trim, but it will most likely be Behr Moon Rise. We'll be placing our queen size bed (the headboard is pictured above) between the two windows, with bedside tables (from Pier 1) and lamps on either side. Sorry again for the lousy lamp photo. The detailing on that shade is actually a deep gray, not that funky blue color. Our highboy will go on the small wall on the right hand side of the photo. The mirror and vase will go on top of the highboy. The television will be wall mounted on the wall opposite the bed.
The striped fabric is a Croscill Classics drapery panel in Xavier Stripe. Four of these panels will go in front of the windows behind the bed with Lisette Sheer Panels behind them. Two Saturn Rod sets in Antique Nickel will hold them in place. The other window will have a Croscill Classics drapery panel in Damask (not pictured) comprised of the same family of fabric. Behind it will be a Lisette Sheer Panel and a silver candelabra.
The purple fabric is a Bittersweet Inn Sateen Duvet that will go on the bed with a few graphic pillows (pictured) and simple white sheets. Underneath the bed will be a blonde Anthropologie rug.
Where you enter (which is actually a little bump out in the room -- I need to take some proper Before pictures or whip up a sketch for you) we'll be putting some hooks (pictured) and possibly installing floor to ceiling mirror.
I think that pretty much sums up where we're at. I haven't moved forward beyond this, because we're really trying to focus on downstairs -- I should have some Progress pictures on The Living Area later today.
What do you think? At least it's getting there, right?
p.s. I'm considering changing the knobs on the highboy. I was thinking something with a teardrop, but I dunno. Suggestions welcome.

I love where you're going with "The Sexy", and I absolutely LOVE those hooks! I may have to buy some myself and replace the hooks I purchased a few weeks ago.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment!
Thanks, Dayka!
LOVEEE where you are going with this (bold patterns are SO sexy!) Also, I've painted a room in every apartment I've lived in gray!
Yay for the 'blonde' rug!
I just can't resist it, Nate!
I adore all of the items you've picked out. The room is going to look amazing!
Also, a note that I've tagged you with the Happy 101 Award! http://fixingitfancy.com/?p=149
Thanks, Angela! I'll check it out.
That *is* very Tim Burton! Love it!
My only complaint is that they don't include the hardware to install. Now I have to track down screws with a matching finish. Boo Anthropologie.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!!! I am loving what you have so far for your bedroom.. and am so jealous of all of those windows.
