Our wood valances in The Office of The Historic House By The Water. Since I aim to please, here is your answer.

Yes, they were in the house when we purchased it. In fact, I suspect that they are very old. Which I love. All we did was give them a thorough cleaning and a paint job (with Behr Cotton Whisper in Semi-gloss, if you're curious, and the walls are Behr Antique White).

They seem to really belong in the house, which I took into account when I tackled this room. They're probably not something that I would have built myself, but since they seem to be such a fitting detail, I made sure to keep them when I was planning the space.

They have sort of a formal feeling to them, so I added the sheers to lighten things up. I like the combination.

What do you think?

OH, I so love them! They really are perfect and that is such a clean and pretty white. Those birds still have my heart! So perfect!

I LOVE them and wish they still had things like that in houses. What a unique touch! I wonder how difficult it would be to make them...I think they'd be very sweet for a nursery...

Thanks, Meg! Allyson, I think it would be really easy. The least expensive way would probably be to take the first detail shot (at the top) to a lumber yard along with your window measurements. They'll do the cuts for you right there!

That is a nice piece of charm! I love the sheers with it!

I honestly didn't notice them before but, now that you point them out, I think they're lovely! Very architectural and authentic. They fit. Sheers were a great choice.
