It means green bits and festivals and ocean breezes and barbecues and swimming and beach cruisers and dancing puppies and sailboats and flowers and bikinis and sunshine. It means towel snapping and flip flop wearing and sand all over the car. It means everything I adore about living in Florida. And you can count me in for all of it.
Spring is definitely on it's way in our corner of the universe, and I couldn't be happier.
Just for kicks yesterday, I sat outside and watched all of the little green buds struggling to burst on to the scene. It's a new sport for me. Lately, you're likely to catch me in front of our house just staring down our bushes, willing them to open. That's my preferred spot. The neighbors probably think I'm strange.

My favorite ones to spy on are the colorful things. Who would have guessed that waiting for flowers to bloom is so particularly entertaining? I never actually catch them in the act, but just being outside, smelling the salty spring air is a pretty good consolation prize. Here are a few more pictures from our yard yesterday for your viewing pleasure...

With springtime also comes extended hours at the weekend market on Saturdays. So yesterday, we hit up the gym mid-morning and afterwards we walked nearby to the outdoor Riverside Arts Market.
The market is held under a bridge that passes over the river. There's a path along the water that leads to the area, and people sit along the walk and enjoy the view.
The artisans and entertainers are diverse. Yesterday we met a furniture builder, bread maker, fire dancer, seamstress, painter, cello player, and sculptor. They also have a fantastic farmer's market. With spring comes even better selection, too. (Notice that the sign says Support The Little Man. I love that. Except I wish it was spelled correctly.)

Being a first-time homeowner and having to do our own landscaping from scratch has really made me appreciate all those little buds, too! I've been dying for spring to get here so all our plants we planted last fall will come back to life (hopefully). The weather here was really nice (for KS) this weekend, so it inspired me to write about spring, too!
Warmer temperatures. I NEED THEM!
MUST. HAVE. CATERPILLAR. MANSION.
MUST!!!!!
p.s. you should go to Lowe's and get bags of gladiola bulbs..if you plant them now you'll have summer blooms. I just planted some and can't wait!
