A Very Serious Debate

Every once in a while we wander out shopping for nothing in particular which always ends with one of us finding something that is just oh-so-perfect for that one corner of that one room that is currently covered in paint cans and debris. That one of us is always me.

No, we usually don't have room but, yes, I always have a vision and, unfortunately, I sometimes cannot live without it.

In my defense, I am willing to mix it up a bit, and instead going with yet another four-legged barking thing that would be just perfect next to the sofa, from time to time I'll decide to bring home something that doesn't poop four times a day and jump up on the counter when I pull out the glow in the dark cheese. Because not everything in our barn, I mean house, has to be growling and furry, you know. That's why Andrew shaves his chest every few days.

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago there were those new Dwell pillows at Target that I hadn't seen in the flesh before, and while Andrew entertained himself with bouncy things in the Sports Department, the Scroll Decorative Pillow and I got to know each other. (I still can't believe that they couldn't come up with a more creative name than that?) In person, the yellow detailing around the design is actually much more distinct than the photographs, so much so that I felt like it was screaming at me a bit.

And I didn't mind.

I looked at the pillow for a good few minutes, turned it upside down and right side up, tossed it in the air, and threw it at a passerby to make sure that it would still re-fluff afterwards. It did. Then I made it run NFL Combine style drills, sprinting up and down the sales aisles in the back in forty yard increments until I was sure that it was up to task. I mean, you can't be a bowler coming into a household with four rambunctious dogs. You've got to be able to take a tackle.

After a little while, Andrew found me there in the Bed + Bath Department where I was still mulling over the $24.99 price tag, and I looked up and said confidently, "She's The One."

He asked me the one for what and I answered, "For here, of course, to live among her people. Isn't it obvious?" He shook his head, sucked in a deep breath, the kind he takes when he's preparing to go into battle, and said, "Um, no, I'm voting her off the island."

Well.

What do you say?

p.s. I should note that those photographs are the same pillow. One side is the front, one side is the back.
p.p.s. In completely unrelated news, something minor is being added to this room in a couple of weeks. It just needs that finishing touch, you know? I'm very excited. Like I said, it's minor but still. It's been bothering me for a month. Yes, I'm obsessive like that.

Why do our boys have to interfere with our creative home decorating process? ;o) Mine has a lot of opinions, though, lately, he's been letting me do my thing with the living room...

I like 'em. Are you going to put any punches of color into the room or is it all going to be black and white?

Chacha, the duvet color is a dull plum and the rug is yellow. Both of which are colors I normally loathe, but it seems to be sort of working in the space. Don't ask what got into me. Oh, and the wall are antique gray.
