The Craigslist Gods Have Smiled Upon Us

Andrew and I had decided on most of The Kitchen elements by this weekend, but we were still missing the perfect stools for the stainless steel prep area. Everything I had originally envisioned was either too cold or too warm and I couldn't seem to find what I really wanted, something in between, the type of seating that you grind your old boots against while you're perched atop drinking hot tea and gabbing on the phone and feeding the dogs scraps that aren't on their diets. I had decided that it was a mythical stool, a thing that didn't exist in real life, because, just like people, furniture that is THAT charismatic is rarely refined enough to tolerate in more than small doses. And then I came across a listing on Craigslist. Two matching vintage stools. Rescued by a chef from an old architectural print shop. Chipping gun metal gray paint and seats that swivel with high comfortable backs. Wheels. Love. The moral of the story? Pigs do fly and mythical stools really live. p.s. The tiny pendulum in my brain has swung back to the wood shelves. Because see what they look like stained?!
