I've installed granite countertops time and time again, but never two differenttypes at the same time in one kitchen. Not one, but two different stones. Which means twice as many opportunities to change my mind. I know.
ISN'T THAT FUN?!!!
On a side note, this post was supposed to be an ironic little funny story about a toilet paper war and Andrew's rear end, but when he found out what I was up to he promptly put the smack down in the form of an internet gag order.
Wow, so much granite! We are thinking we might go two different styles of counter tops in our kitchen. Granite along the wall, and butcher block for the island. We like the looks that the pro designers do when everything doesn't match exactly. Plus our center island would cost a fortune to do in granite.
Kristi, we're doing dark granite on the pearl cabinets, light granite on the charcoal cabinets and a stainless steel prep area. Butcher's block was highly considered, though! I think it would look great in your kitchen. Especially on an island! Not to mention functional.
Holyhoke, he's SO prude. (And thank you, it's my red marshmallow look.)
Caroline, it IS possible that I will share it when he's not looking. Because I'm uncontrollable and sneaky like that. Also, we should have the countertops installed in about ten days. If I can ever make up my mind, that is. So we should probably make it twenty.
In the eighties, I was a little kid who put together model buildings out of notebook paper and Scotch tape and spent days on end playing Monopoly with my best friend. What I've done over the last decade is pretty much the same thing. I began buying, renovating, and renting dozens of properties during Architecture school, where I mostly learned how to stay awake for six days straight.
Today I'm a new mother married with four dogs and way too many houses along the coasts of Florida. We recently moved into and began working on a three story lake house built in 1928.

Oh, good luck making your decisions and sticking to them!! Janell
Ahh...hilarious. Too bad he caught you. I was looking forward to the story.
Anyways...how fun is that. Can't wait to see the granites you picked out!
Dang it, I feel cheated now.
Cute pic of you though.
You look darling in that picture!
I am required to get pre-approval for any post that mentioned Mr. Man.
