LOL, I love those commercials! Of course though because of them, I'm slightly disappointed when I come home for Christmas and don't receive that kind of reaction! :)
Those coffee commercials always made me cry. When my son was in college, I would imagine that he would do this .. he never did . He came home but not like that lol. I can't watch it now as I am missing my boy too much at the present :)
I just saw the modern version the ohter rday and took it as an opportunity to be snarky. "West Africa? Who says that? Just name a country! What're you trying to hide?"
Abroad, I am also missing my boy terribly. Terribly.
Crafto, no no you're absolutely right. They're HORRIBLY cheesy. But the concept. And that looks Peter gives. It. kills. me. Viva la Peter! I will leave the coffee on!
I feel so much better now, knowing that I am not alone when I get all misty watching this commercial. My favorite? It's not a Christmas commercial, but I LOVED the SuperBowl commercial with the Running of the Squirrels. It wasn't a very effective ad, I guess, because I can't tell you what the product was. I just thought the idea of people running from stampeding squirrels was hillarious.
I just posted my favorite Christmas commercial on my blog...come by and see. I do love the commercial you chose too. Although...in the new version...doesn't Peter remind you of Blossom's older brother? That's kind of weird.
In the eighties, I was a little kid who put together model buildings out of notebook paper and Scotch tape and spent days on end playing Monopoly with my best friend. And, really, what I've done over the last decade is pretty much the same thing. I began buying, renovating, and renting dozens of properties during Architecture school, where I mostly learned how to stay awake for six days straight while narrowly escaping dismemberment by Exacto knife.
Today I'm married with four dogs, way too many houses, and a boatload of projects along the coasts of North and South Florida. We recently wrapped up renovations to our place around the corner and moved a few blocks away to begin work on a three story lake house built in 1928 . Oh, and also?

It's not really Christmas for me until I see the Peter commercial and the one with Santa and the M&Ms. ("They do exist!")
They better not ever go off the air!

I apparently have no soul.
Vanessa, those make me happy, too.

Nooo, Nita. Peter is so much cuter than Blossom's brother.
That commercial gets me every time!!
Ditto!
