The new glittery bit on my right hand is a half carat diamond surrounded by a few chips and set in a white gold Art Deco band from around 1939. I didn't think I'd ever want to wear another ring after being given my wedding set, which I still find myself staring at and drooling over once or twice or fifteen times each day. You know how something can be so beautiful, so simple, so meaningful that it startles you and makes you wave your hands and look to the sky and yell, "Um, God, thank you, seriously, but are you sure there's not been some kind of mistake? My last name is spelled with a Y, just in case you want to DOUBLE CHECK YOUR RECORDS?"
That's how I felt when Andrew asked me to marry him.
And again when he gave me this ring today.

I love antique rings. My engagement ring was an antique filigree solitaire....too bad the wedding didn't happen...but I kept the ring. Andrew really is a great guy...any guy that surprises you with vintage jewelry.
My Dad used to have a pawn shop and every antique ring that came in was put aside for me. I adore them.
What a great day for you!
Me, too!! I can't help but drool at the jewelry booths at antique shows, and many pieces have come home with me. My favorite is an 18kt gold wide, heavy wedding band with the initials "A C and C C" inside and an 1894 date inside.
Your husband is a love to give you such a meaningful gift. It's beautiful.
SO gorgeous. You are one lucky girl!
Gorgeous. I've always had a thing for rings and that one is a beauty.
Yes, I am, Rural.
Isn't it, Pendy?! I was floored.
Oh my god that is gorgeous!! I've clicked and enlarged it about 5 times already just to stare at it up close - I can't imagine how pretty it must look in person!!
Thanks, Caroline! I've been staring at my hands all day.
I am loving both rings! gorgeous!
Both are awesomely beautiful --- congrats!
Nice job, Andrew. That man is a keeper.
I'm missing a couple of the stones from my wedding set. They're also scratched up and bent. Sam asked me if I wanted to upgrade for our twentieth last year, and I said no, the rings were a good representation of us: a little worn, but still perfect together.
Wow! And, um, how gigantic is your wedding ring? Has Andrew ever been accidentally knocked out by it? :)
Thanks, Brahm!
I may-or-may-not be drooling all over the keyboard to my new laptop. Though I have my own wedding set (mini-sized), I actually inherited and wear my grandmother's set instead. Gotta love antique jewelry!

*gasp* How special to have your grandmother's set, Carol! Lucky girl!
I adore that Art Deco ring. I must confess that the beau and I have been talking about getting engaged, and I've been stalking Art Deco rings online for weeks.
