Nurturing

This is Zoe a few minutes ago, on her first day out of the hospital, her third day of recovery.

I know that most of you understand the dread that comes along when a pet falls ill, but if you don't, then go into your bathroom and stuff the tub down your throat. Then try to swallow. Slowly. It feels kind of like that.

She's having an adverse reaction to a pill that was prescribed to her routinely, with no disclosures of the company having never tested it on Italian Greyhounds at. all.

She's not walking and has no bladder control.

I haven't slept in two days.

So sorry to hear this. :( Murphy was really sick back in March. I missed 3 days of work. I honestly thought he was going to die. He pulled through though. Dogs are so tough! I know Zoe will pull through too.

Oh no. That's an absolutely sickening feeling. Hope she's on the fast road to recovery now.

oh no! That's a horrible feeling when they can't talk to you and let you know how they're doing. The drake man has had a limp and every time he wobbles on his one leg, my heart breaks.

sending happy healthy pet thoughts, hope she's bounding around in no time. (and that you get some sleep soon!)

Kristi, I hope so.

Sunny, they prescribed her and Slate a drug that was never tested on Italian Greyhounds. They both had really bad reactions, but Slate bounced back quicker.

Melody, thank you furbabies for us!

UCM, she really is the sweetest thing. That's why I hate seeing her under the weather.

I know EXACTLY how it feels, having just seen our Emma (our full-size greyhound) through a particularly difficult time two weeks ago ... I was pseudo-sleeping on the couch for four nights to be beside her if she needed me. Our fur-babies depend on us and they love us unconditionally. I'm sending healing thoughts your way, for Zoe and for you, too.

Oh, her eyes are heartbreaking! I can't imagine what I would do if our Mocha got so sick... I hope she's feeling better super soon so you can breathe again and get some sleep!

I have been walking around with that f*ing bathtub in my throat for months now .. I am so sorry, Kelly !
Aside from this vet, do you have an excellent animal hospital around ? I have my friend in Jax who is a dog breeder if you need any words of advice from an expert .. much love to you and Zoe.
Are they / did they flush that crap out of her system ?

Oh...my gosh....I know exactly that feeling. Dogs have a remarkable way of rebounding...so just give her a little time. Oh...what a sweetie. I'll be praying for her...please keep us updated. She is soooo pretty. I have had several times that I thought for sure my dog was not going to make it and they pulled through and were just fine. I'm hoping this is how it goes for you. My Violet is a miracle and so is her sister Daisy. Both came very close to death. Daisy...really is a miracle that she is fine now. I hope you have a vet you totally trust that can make all the difference.

Yep, can relate a little bit right now. (Gentle) belly rubs for Zoe, and hugs for you!

My heart goes out to you and Zoe! I completely understand - my weimeraner broke her pelvis. The worse part is they can not tell you what is wrong or if they are in pain. It is so horrible to see the suffering yet they do it so stoically!

Poor little pup (and you for getting no sleep)!

Poor little lady - what was the drug for?

I hope she bounces back quicky. It's truly awful when pets are sick.

Oh no. Those big sad eyes. What a sweetheart. Give her a gentle pat for me.
