Before + After: The Lake House: The Living Room

Is this perfection?

No.  But this is what non-returnable pinch pleat draperies and a seventeen month old Napoleon get you.

This is what it looked like when we moved in last year.  (I was uncharacteristically rational and hired painters.)

And then badabingbadaboom.

The brass curtain rod, swing arm sconces (flanking the fireplace), and leather Oviedo Chaise are from Restoration Hardware.  Pretty much everything else is, like, three hundred years old or was won in a poker game.  Kidding.  Maybe.

Hope you likey.

I likey. Don't tell my ivy that your ivy gets to live in a cool brass swan. It will wither with jealousy.

1. That rug!!!(!!!)

2. After fake offering to show Timothy Zahn my boobs in exchange for an autograph for my husband's upcoming re-enlistment, he did send me a signed book. But. Most importantly, I got to Facebook banter with an actual author. Which is cool. Even though I've never read any of his books.

3. I want to sit in that chaise and tell you about my problems and never ever leave. Don't invite me over.

Ohmegerd... I LOVE your end table and coffee table. Love. *drool*

Everything else is lovely too. :-) But those pieces are just DIVINE. I want to rub my hands all over their smooth surfaces...

This looks awesome! And I actually spit out water when you talked about a 17 month old Napoleon. It's tough living with a tiny dictator.

You have such a magic touch to make rooms feel so put together. I love the touches of brass and that rug is fabulous.
